Slot

A slot is a narrow opening that receives something, or a position in a building. In airplane design, a slot is an opening on the leading edge of an aircraft wing that improves airflow.

Using a slot system is an effective way to organize meetings, consultations, and evaluation reviews. It also encourages open communication between teams and departments.

The word slot comes from the Middle English words “slot,” which means hollow in the breastbone. It has an etymological connection to deer track, as a bloodhound is said to follow a wounded deer’s trail.

When a web component has a slot, it displays the content that resides in that slot if nothing is passed to it. In some cases, this content may be replaced by a fallback.

A slot can be used for a variety of different purposes, including enhancing workflow or showcasing the content that resides inside it. A slot can have a placeholder, resizing property, and additional description.

Adding synonyms to slots is an easy and flexible way to add additional wording to your slots. Synonyms are a great way to explain complex information, and they allow Architect to better understand your intent when mapping.

To add a synonym to a slot, select the slot and enter the word or phrase you want to add to it in the field next to its value. If you have any problems with the wording or want to remove a synonym, hover over the slot and click the X.
